  1. (*)Article about the latest "BugBear virus that is circulating around and another article about "How popular it is becoming [epidemic level]!". Here is access to a "Help Center" and a "Microsoft Security Bulletin patch article".
  2. Lindows.com - new operating system that tries to combine "Windows and Linux"; started and funded by the founder of MP3.com. The "jury" is still out on this new Operating System (OS).
  3. Whatis.com - a resource that provides definitions for 1,000's of Information Technology (IT) related words/phrases/acronyms; Whatis is part of the "TechTarget" umbrella of Web resources used by IT professionals.
  4. ClassicOL.com - a resource for the classical musician or classical music enthusiast; lots here! You might also like the "LyricServer" or the "ArtAtlas" (5000+ international art galleries).
  5. Zinio.com - a new way to read magazines on your PC. My comments: "While it looks interesting; (1) what I'd like to know is where is landscape versus portrait viewing? (2) The printing feature is very limited; (3) Web links - why don't they work? The scenario ---> I'm online, reading my magazine and yet I can't click through to a simple Web site - Uuurgh! Oh well, maybe next year! See also "ContentGuard".
  6. SecuriKey.com - [by Griffin Technologies, LLC.] is an easy to use, out of the box computer access protection solution. To quote their Web site, "To use SecuriKey, simply insert it into any available USB port on your computer and type in your password". Requires: Windows 2000, WindowsXP (Home or Professional) and costs about $50. Here is another neat electronic device for a portable music player (check out the pendant version) called the "Yepp" by Samsung.
  7. DeletedDomains.com - free research resource for finding domain names that have been deleted or put on hold.
  8. SnipURL.com - a free service that allows you to "snip" your long URLs into small, friendly and persistent links for sharing and remembering. Also visit "TinyURL".
  9. ePodunk.com - a resource that gives access to more than 25,000 communities You can info like the population count, cultural notes, information on colleges, parks, museums and other local attractions, area newspapers, census.
  10. ExecutiveLibrary.com - an index to what the Wall Street. Journal considers the Web's best business Web sites (resources).
  11. BeerFestivals.org - links to official festival sites, organized by month, beer reviews and more.
  12. ScienceSpot.net - you'll find lesson plans, activities, projects and more; for middle school science teachers/educators. Remember to visit UW-Madison Prof. Bassam Z. Shakhashiri "Science is Fun (scifun.org)"; checkout this "Volcanoe site", or "SeaShells", "AboutSchool" and don't forget "Scirus".
  13. AnswerBus.com - a natural language search engine to use other than "AskJeeves".
  14. AlphaShield.com - a computer security device; they claim that "AlphaShield monitors all Internet activity and effectively protects your system from all unauthorized intruders".
  15. CarePlanner.org - a resource that is a decision support tool for successful living and care choices for seniors, physically disabled or individuals that need supportive services.
  16. TheTZsite.com - a resource for "Twilight Zone" enthusiasts.

  18. AnyCollege.net - search for a college that meets your program interests.
  19. USUS.org - this is the Web site for the "Usually Useful Internet Guide for Journalists"; a comprehensive Internet guide for journalists. It was created for those who want to have a better understanding of the Internet and its potential as a journalistic research tool.
  20. Byways.org - by the Federal Highway Administration; access to maps, weather info, contacts, and more about traveling the best and most scenic roadways in the U.S.
  21. AdShield.org - is a freeware banner ad blocker; it works by blocking the download and display of ad images, advertising pages and those additional annoying popup browser sessions. Visit the "InfoStar Techlinks" page for more solutions to this problem - scroll down to the "Privacy Protection" section where you will find lots more.
  22. Wordsmyth.net - an online searchable "dictionary-thesaurus; is an innovative and evolving language reference source that meshes the functions of a dictionary and a thesaurus with powerful and flexible search capabilities. Also visit "Onelook" - 4,850,329 words in 792 dictionaries indexed.
  23. JournalismNet.com - if you like keeping up on news and current events then you'll enjoy this news resource. Also visit "Newsahead" and "1stHeadlines".
  24. GardeningLaunchPad.com - access to more than 4700+ gardening links, plus tips and articles - organized but not searchable.
