  1. ehMac.ca - Canada's [Apple] Mac community; features online forum-discussion, classifieds and photo areas. Free membership and also subscription as well.
  2. DigitalSociety.org - [a non-profit org.] is a digital think tank that believes culture and commerce are inseparable, that the digital economy flourishes when people are free and rights are secure, and that free markets free people.
  3. Vitals.com - claim a comprehensive medical info database [searchable] of 720,000+ doctors nationwide.
  4. CharityBlossom.org - mission is to help non-profits and charities to become more visible; so they aggregated millions of non-profit organizations and charities and made visible and searchable in their Charity Blossom Web site.
  5. InspectionNews.net - developed to aid prospective, new and established home inspectors in their quest to find home inspection information and answers to business and technical questions. "Their forum" has 13,700+ registered members who have contributed over 200,465 posts of information.
  6. HelpGuide.org - their goal is to provide you with access to information and the encouragement you need to take charge of your health and well-being and make healthy choices.
  7. Google.com/voice - lets you manage all your phone communications and seamlessly make and receive calls on any of your existing phones. Listed features: One Phone # - use a single number that rings you anywhere; online voicemail - get transcribed messages delivered to your inbox; Inexpensive calls - free calls & text messages to the U.S. & Canada and low rates everywhere else.
  8. CPUbenchmark.net - performance testing of microcomputer CPU's - included in this list are CPUs designed for servers and workstations (Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron processors), desktop CPUs (Intel Core2 Quad, Intel Core i7, Intel Core2 Extreme and AMD Phenom II processors), in addition to mobile CPUs. Useful when checking out new systems - like "High-End CPU's"!
  9. Technize.com - resource focused on computer technology (Hardware and Software); covers mainly problems (and trying to fix them) with Microsoft and Internet technology (other software may also be covered).
  10. AnandTech.com - computer hardware analysis and news. Useful for performance comparisons of products that you are researching.
  11. And .... Feds [on July 26, 2010] say mobile-phone jailbreaking is OK - read about the ruling here at "c/net" and "MacObserver".

  13. NoLoc.org - [are you a Twitter.com user?] did you know that every single "Twitter tweet" will be archived forever by the US government. However, you have a choice ... you can use NoLOC to set your tweets free! Starting 10/10/2010, Twitter will begin transferring all of your tweets to the Library of Congress for archiving. Tweets that are 24 weeks old (6 months) or older will be saved forever, and you will no longer be able to delete them. By using #NoLOC.org, you continue to use Twitter like normal, but when you tweet turns 23 weeks old, NoLoc.org will delete it automatically. ?Why 23 Weeks? According to the agreement between Twitter and the Library of Congress, all tweets that are not deleted within 6 months (24 weeks) of their submission date will be eligible for archival. So, on the 23rd week (give or take a 1 or 2 days), your tweet will be deleted by NoLOC.org's servers.
  14. TheHill.com - keep up with politics - in Washington D.C. and more! ALso visit their technology blog "Hillicon Valley".
  15. Edublogs.org - an education blogging service for teachers and students.
  16. Spoofee.com - their goal is to inform you with the best deals, coupons, saving tips, and coupons. In service for about 10 years and claims 2 million visitors each month.
  17. WikiLeaks.org - is a multi-jurisdictional public service designed to protect whistleblowers, journalists and activists who have sensitive materials to communicate to the public. You can read more "about WikiLeaks".
  18. Toolcritic.com - organized resource for information about tools.
  19. Ecomagination.com - On July 13, CEO Jeff Immelt announced GE’s "Ecomagination Challenge": Powering the Grid, a $200 million open innovation challenge to find and fund the best ideas for bringing our power grid into the 21st century. Co-funded by four venture capital firms, the challenge aims to leverage GE’s scale, technical expertise and client relationships to bring new ideas to market quickly. WIRED magazine’s Chris Anderson also weighed in on the importance of this challenge calling it "the biggest of its kind". Also checkout their new products "Nucleus" and "Wattstation".
  20. TrueKnowledge.com [beta] [the Internet Answer Engine] - they claim it is the world's first AI (Artificial Intelligence) question-answering platform. They are using semantic technology to build the first internet-scale platform for directly answering the world's questions.
  21. ISHS.org [International Society for Horticultural Science] - dating from 1864 and formally constituted in 1959, has more than 7000 members representing some 150 countries. It is the world's leading independent organization of horticultural scientists. ISHS publishes Acta Horticulturae, Chronica Horticulturae, and Scripta Horticulturae.
  22. Picnik.com - a free photo-editing Web service that also has an upgrade if you need more; works on Mac, Windows, and Linux. No download required.
